What you need to know about Facebook as a Service Based business

Have you been bored with facebook? Maybe it hasn’t been a tool you thought your target audience uses? Maybe you just are unsure of where to start!

I get it, here at WIB we know the importance of growing your reach in multiple social platforms. In creating a wide range of resources and “marketing nets” to catch the “dream fish”. Ya feel me?

I know Instagram Stories are way more fun and to be frank Instagram is just prettier but it is important you share some of your marketing efforts over on the biggest social platform there is, Facebook.

Here are the facts,

  • Facebook is the most active social network in the world, over 2 billion active users.

  • 82% of 18-29 year olds use Facebook

  • 79% of 30-49 year olds use Facebook

    In WIB we teach you all of our favorite methods to brand, build, market and ultimately do business better. One of our favorite ways is using good ol, Facebook. Here are some of the basics to getting started.

  • STEP ONE: Make sure that your Facebook page is a business page! If you haven’t created a business page yet, just click on the “Create” button at the top of Facebook and select the Business Page option (which you also need in order to connect your Instagram to have an Instagram Business page-which we highly recommend). Business pages are important, they are the only way to access all the FREE tools the platforms have created for you to market they also allow you to dive into ads…which we teach HOW, WHY and WHAT about FB ads in WIB! Once you have created your page, you want to make sure you have as much information filled out as possible, which leads us to our next step.


  • STEP TWO: Add your contact info, physical business address, website, profile image and cover photo to your page. Also fill out the About Page for your business. The easier it is for people to learn about you and your services, the better.


  • STEP THREE: Set up your CTA (call to action) button! This is an example of what our button looks like on our business page. It links directly to where people can enroll for coaching with me.

Fun fact about banners…we use a totally FREE tool called CANVA that is amazing for making any graphics but soooo good for FB. It even has templates titled “Facebook Banner”. Already sized and ready to go. Slide in your brand colors, logo and picture and you are in business!

  • STEP FOUR: Sort and optimize your tabs on the left hand side of your business page. I’d recommend using the services template.

Now that you have the very basics which most small service based business aren’t doing …it is time to post some content. What we see and hear the most is WHAT the heck do I post on FB. Well first and foremost video is KING of facebook and doing LIVES is a huge opportunity for you and your business.

What to share on Facebook

Now that we’ve established that video is AMAZING for page engagement, what should you be sharing on Facebook? The key is to create irresistible content. Here are some ideas for content you can make and share.

-Salon/ Business tour allows future leads and clients to get in touch with your brand

-Video of one of your client’s final looks with them talking about how much they loved their experience

-Feature the other stylists at your salon- it’s proven when an audience seeings eyeballs, smiles and voices…more sales are made!

-Video of you talking about common hair care questions- the type EVERYONE ask you!

-Since your business is local, think about what type of content your local audience would be interested in (local events, news, etc).

-Inspirational quotes - as long as humans are using Facebook, quotes are here to stay


Lastly…Learn. Love. Laugh. Ultimately, you should remember these three words when it comes to great Facebook content - Learn. Love. Laugh. Yes, it might sound like a cheesy framed quote in someone’s house, but when people are on Facebook they want to do all these things! Give them the content they want to see and interact with!

This being said, you should test different forms of content and see what resonates most with your audience!
